New Designers is an event not to miss where you can see the launch of the new talent in the world of creativity. We visited week 1 which is Textiles + Contemporary Crafts + Glass + Ceramics + Jewellery. Week 2 covers Product & Industrial Design + Spacial Design + Interiors + Graphic Design. The Business Design Centre in Islington London is the vast glass roofed venue where the event takes place. 3,000 graduates from the UK’s creative courses come together to exhibit their products and wares. Its the place to see new innovative designs and crafts in all aspects of design disciplines. One Year In is a platform for graduates from the previous year who have launched their businesses and showcase collections ready for purchase direct to the public. We saw some very beautiful + interesting work and here is a small selection of the work that particularly caught our eye.
Cover Magazine
Cup + Cloth are featured in the latest COVER magazine, issue 55 Summer Edition.
The feature talks about our collaboration with Olga the creator of the wonderful Lizhnyk rugs we design together. The rugs are made in the village of Yavoriv in the Carpathian mountain of the Ukraine, We work closely together creating a modern take on a traditional method of weave. Modern Rustic
We always get a buzz from being featured in cool interior magazines, here’s one of our items in Modern Rustic, the book-zine issue of Country Living. The feature is all about rich berry tones and the Alice Heaton vessel sits beautifully along side the other objects in this shot. This Hungarian based design team BirdmansHome create beautiful stoneware ceramics that are robust in wonderful earthy tones + sublime matt glazes. The UFO pot is a charming way to show off your succulent + cacti collection complete with drainage hole for that all important monthly watering ritual. Timeless and cute as we say! HeloObject
London based design house Helo Objects have joined us in the store. Sublime modernist items that scream stripped back design with no frills The range of candle stick holders + stylish storage pot complete a wonderful concise collection. Jesmonite is the designers signature material, a hard wearing composition providing a beautifully smooth finish, it was named the ultimate material of the building industry in 2017. Madoka Rindal Ceramics at Cup + Cloth
We are very excited to introduce the work of Madoka Rindal, a Japanese born artist now based in Paris. The work is influenced by wandering the street of Paris where she loves to watch people going about their everyday lives. The collection is linked by the inky blue hand painted faces and eyes, breathing life and character into each one of her pieces. We love this collection as we hope you do too, check out her work in HOMEWARES in the store.
World of Interiors
You will find a nice little feature on Cup + Cloth in the April issue of the style bible World of Interiors. Very pleased to be included in the Design Report and to be in such an iconic interior publication.

We love to see where goods from Cup + Cloth go to, here is a one of our wonderful Lizhnyk rugs custom made for An who resides in Belgium. Its great when our customers from around the world seek us out and appreciate the craftmanship of these amazing Ukrainian rugs. The wool is hand dyed using natural properties to give this intense result, hand woven in an Ikat style to create this timeless rug that doubles up as a blanket when the weather turns cold. Ciaraxclarke Modernist earrings have landed
We are very excited to introduce to you our new jewellery label based in Manchetser, Ciaraxclark who has joined us here at Cup + Cloth. Ciara is an independent jewellery designer who specialises in making statement earrings, the pieces are made from resin + acrylics + non precious metals. Her jewellery has a strong modernist edge that’s always bold. Gorgeous stuff for you brave souls who want to make an impact. Check her collection in the accessories section instore.

Meet the Family
Peter Slight has produced a collection of charming ceramic heads that are so adorable we want to adopt them all.
We are so happy to introduce to you our new artist + maker Peter Slight who has joined us at Cup + Cloth. Peter makes Slip cast tactile + charming ceramics that invite you to pick up and enjoy interacting with their shapes + form. All are individually hand made in very small batches and finished in a matt eggshell glaze. Now the hard bit… which one to choose!

Sixton Socks for Grown Ups
Super socks have arrived at the store, this wonderful footwear for your fashionable feet are perfect for the colder months and will look great with heels + trainers + sandals. Each pair has its own special brooch, you can customise your socks or wear on your clothes. The designs are conceived in a studio on the Stockwell side of Brixton (Sixton). Inspiration can come from the local area; lightning bolts inspired by Brixton local, David Bowie. Insects and butterflies inspired by a trip to the Horniman museum. Or further afield as they travel the world.

Cup + Cloth are very excited to announce our first visit to Manchester, we will be showing our finest wares at Chorlton Makers Market. Joining the residency adjacent to Chorlton Library and on the grounds of the Oswald Road Primary School on the third Saturday of the month. You will find the very finest local food, drink, art, design, vintage and modern craft carefully selected from Manchester artisans and business local to the North West. Offering the opportunity to meet the producers, browse the stalls, sample and enjoy the music and performance.

Always visionary + ambitious + experimental the students year on year produce cutting edge work in a cutting edge city. Make sure you pencil it into your diaries for next year to see the next generation of creatives before the rest of the world does, its that good!
